No knees needed – an evolving friendship over the past months

If you´d ask me about the trend on heavy rotation in my wardrobe (just go and scroll through my Instagram gallery (the-fashion-pheromone) and convince yourself), it’s definitively the midi skirt! Quite surprisingly, as some years back, I couldn’t imagine to wear this below-the-knee silhouette – after all my granny’s signature style. It‘s all about to change!

Taking the runway by storm, the midi skirt has finally made the transition from a stylish it-piece to a wardrobe staple. I wouldn‘t be a fashion lover not daring to at least try a new trend. As member of the petite fraction, I love to wear mini skirts showing off some leg and appearing a little bit taller by wearing high heels. So how to wear this new season silhouette – halfway between your knee and ankle – without looking like grannys twin?

Over the past months, I tried lots of different midi skirts, from shiny silky fabrics and floral prints, to flattering pleats and leather. Our friendship started to evolve with every day and outfit!

I have put together my favorite midi styles to look fresh during the transitional winter months by just considering some easy styling tricks:

  1. Sassy statement heels are the way to go, especially for the vertically challenged amongst us. For the brave, get playful with socks or sophisticated ankle boots.
  2. Inject unexpected colors and prints as counterpart to the cold and grey winter months.
  3. Dress-up: Accentuate your waist with a belt and tucked-in t-shirt or fitted sweater for a more figure-flattering silhouette and you instantly look more polished.
  4. Cool casuals: Opt for a loose sweater and sneakers to keep your midi skirt simple and to stay cozy and relaxed.
  5. My grandma definitively didn’t wear leather nor would she have tolerated a glance on a bare leg!

Now that the fashion powers, make sure you go for this easy hemline in spring!

    1. Liebe Isabelle,
